MTSS in Action: Building a Stronger System for Student Success

This training on Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is designed to provide educators with the knowledge, skils, and tools necessary to implement a framework that ensures all students receive the appropriate level of support for their academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development. The session will cover the foundational components of MTSS, including tiered interventions, data-driven decision-making, and progress monitoring. Through interactive discussions, and practical strategies, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to create a supportive, inclusive, and responsive learning environment for all students.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify and describe the three tiers of support in an MTSS framework: universal, targeted and intensive.

  • Develop a system and strategies for using student data to inform instructional decisions for each tier of support.

  • Apply evidence-based practices to design and implement interventions at each tier of support.

  • Utilize tools and strategies to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.

Leading Effective MTSS Collaboration for Student Success

This training focuses on the critical role of Collaborative Problem-Solving Teams (CPSTs) within the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework. It is designed to equip educators and school leaders with the skills and strategies needed to establish and run effective CPSTs that support student success through collaboration and data-driven decision-making. Participants will learn how to build a cohesive team, structure problem-solving meetings, and use a systematic approach to address academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs at all tiers of support. Through practical examples, role-playing, and hands-on activities, this session will empower participants to enhance the effectiveness of their CPSTs and improve student outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define the purpose and function of Collaborative Problem-Solving Teams within the MTSS process.

  • Identify how CPSTs contribute to creating a responsive system that meets the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students.

  • Understand the key roles and responsibilities of CPST members and how to build a collaborative, cohesive team.

  • Learn how to collect and analyze data from multiple sources to identify student needs and inform decision-making.

  • Apply structured problem-solving protocols to identify root causes, set goals, and develop action plans for students.

  • Understand how to use feedback and data to refine the problem-solving process and make adjustments to better meet student needs.

Bridging Systems for Success: Integrating PBIS & SEL with the Interconnected Systems Framework

This training focuses on the Interconnected Systems Framework (ISF), which blends Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) with Social Emotional Learning (SEL) to create a comprehensive, unified approach to student development.  Participants will explore the importance of integrating these two critical systems to enhance both academic and social-emotional outcomes for students.  The workshop will cover the foundational principles of PBIS and SEL, the ISF model, strategies for effective integration, and how to create a cohesive system of support that fosters positive behavior, emotional well-being and academic success.  Practical tools, strategies, and case studies will help educators align PBIS and SEL within their schools to promote a supportive, inclusive, and positive school climate.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define and explain the core principles of PBIS and SEL.

  • Describe the Interconnected Systems Framework (ISF) and identify benefits of using this approach to support all students and increase likelihood of sustainability.

  • Plan and implement a system that integrates PBIS and SEL at multiple levels, from universal school-wide practices to targeted and intensive interventions.

  • Utilize strategies to promote collaboration among staff, families, and community stakeholders to ensure consistency and effectiveness in supporting students.
