Pam is a retired elementary education teacher with over 30 years’ experience working with students in the City School District of Albany grades Pre-K-6. She is a graduate of the State University of New York at Oneonta where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and her master’s degree in Developmental Reading from the State University of New York at Albany.
Pam has extensive experience collaborating with teachers and multidisciplinary teams to create district tiered instructional plans for academic, behavioral and social emotional skill gaps to meet the needs of all students. She has extensive experience teaching reading utilizing research-based reading strategies at the tier 1 instructional level. Her practices included weekly data analysis that would guide lesson planning and decisions for student grouping and instructional tier 1 scaffolding opportunities as needed. Pam was a leader in her building and encouraged colleagues to participate in school improvement initiatives with an open mind and an attitude for learning. She participated in the building-level team where she helped to create systems such as Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, protocols for Tier 1 data collection, and fidelity tools for effective classroom instruction and engagement strategies.
Outside of her educational world, Pam is an active participant in her community. She is one of the original founders of the Capital Region Walk for R.I.T.A. an event by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Pam also participates in the Pan Mass Challenge to raise funds for cancer research and treatment at Dana Farber Cancer Institute. In her spare time Pam enjoys playing pickleball, traveling, cooking, reading and spending time with her friends and family.
Pam is excited about continuing her career in retirement with Building Better Futures to help teachers expand their skills through embedded coaching. She understands firsthand how this process can impact instruction, and she hopes to pass along her knowledge and passion for learning to other hard-working teachers, ultimately impacting students in a meaningful and supportive way.
